Oregon Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney Form

The Oregon Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is a document supplied by the state of Oregon to allow a representing party to handle affairs associated with another’s vehicle. The form essentially grants a denoted person the right to title or register the vehicle in place of the owner. Signing privileges can be additionally issued to the nominated agent, allowing them the opportunity to confirm an odometer disclosure. The provided registry is identified as the “non-secured” POA and is used in cases where the buyer wishes to allow an alternate candidate to act as a representative. In other cases where a vehicle title is lost, destroyed, or is in possession by a security interest holder, a “secured” motor vehicle power of attorney form (Form 735-402)  must be obtained on location at the nearest Oregon Driver & Motor Vehicle Services office (or requested by mail) to complete the odometer disclosure paperwork (§ 735.028.0080).
