The California Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is the appropriate document to use when someone would like to transmit certain rights related to a motor vehicle (or vessel) to a third (3rd) party so that they may operate on their behalf. The form allows the recipient of the powers to access and sign any documentation associated with the vehicle/vessel to carry out the exchange of ownership for the primary party. The form is relatively simple and only requires the party supplying the powers to identify themselves, the attorney-in-fact, and which vehicle/vessel will be involved. This is all followed up with the confirmation of the assignment via the principal’s signature.
