Bill of Sale (Requirements)
- Buyer’s name and address
- Seller’s name and address
- Sales price ($)
- Date of sale or transfer
- Vehicle description
- Vehicle identification number (VIN)
- License plate number (if any)
The seller is required to Report the Sale or Transfer of a Vehicle within 10 days following the vehicle transfer (§ 28.10.271(c)).
How to Register a Vehicle
A vehicle in Alaska must be registered within 10 days (or 60 days if the vehicle is registered in another State) with the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the following documents:
- Current registration.
- Certificate of title (if there is no lienholder).
- Alaska Vehicle Transaction Application and submit on the myAlaska webpage.
- Registration fees (see online calculator).
- Vehicle insurance for the minimum amounts of:
- $50,000 for bodily injury or death of any one person
- $100,000 for bodily injury or death for any accident
- $25,000 for property damage
- Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form V6)
Registration in Alaska is valid for 2 years.
