Register a Vehicle
A vehicle in Alaska must be registered within 10 days (or 60 days if the vehicle is registered in another State) with the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the following documents:
- Bill of Sale
- Certificate of Title (if there is no lienholder)
- Current Registration
- Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form V6)
- Proof of Insurance: For the minimum amounts of:
- $50,000 for bodily injury or death of any one person
- $100,000 for bodily injury or death for any accident
- $25,000 for property damage
- Registration Fees (see online calculator)
- Vehicle Transaction Application (Form V-1) and submit it on the myAlaska webpage.
Register a Boat
To register your boat, attend your nearest Alaska DMV facility or use Alaska DMV Online Services with the following accepted items:
- An Affidavit of Ownership
- Application for Boat Title and Registration (Form B1).
- Bill of Sale, from the previous owner or a boat dealer.
- Certificate of Documentation, if the boat is documented with the U.S. Coast Guard.
- Completed CG-1261 Builders Certification
- Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin or Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin, if the boat is new.
- Payment for registration and title fees, if applicable.
Out-of-State Purchase
- Original out-of-state title or registration, signed by the previous owner.

Register a Firearm
There is no requirement for individuals to register a firearm in Alaska.
