The New Mexico Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney is formal paperwork supplied by the state government to verify an arrangement to issue controls to a named attorney-in-fact regarding the vehicle of a principal owner. The document is produced for instances where an alternate person must transfer, register, title, and/or license a vehicle in the owner’s absence. File the form with the prompted information on the declarant, appointed agent, and associated automobile as directed. Statute – New Mexico Statutes – Uniform Power of Attorney Act (§ 45-5B-101 – 45-5B-403)
Definitions – “Power of attorney” means a writing or other record that grants authority to an agent to act in the place of the principal, whether or not the term “power of attorney” is used (§ 45-5B-102(G)).
Signing Requirements – Corroboration of the transaction must be officially verified by a notary public (§ 45-5B-105).
