The Nebraska Minor Child Power of Attorney, or delegation of parental powers agreement, is a formal filing allowing an alternate adult to receive parental rights for an interim period. The arrangement can be beneficial for a parent or parents in cases where they are away for a length of time and require another to care for their child. Administering the permissions can be maintained for up to six (6) months before automatic termination. For situations requiring longer than six months, renewing the agreement can extend the duration, or, if needed, a parent can pursue guardianship options.
