The Kansas Minor Child Power of Attorney effectively establishes the conveyance of parental powers from the legal guardians to an attorney-in-fact. This does not mean that the parent(s)/guardian(s) give up any of their rights to the child, but rather that they will have concurrent authority over the minor and can revoke the authorization at any time. The reason one might carry out this document is to ensure that their child has access to any medical, dental, or educational necessities while under the care of a family member or other trusted individual. Those interested in accomplishing a copy of this form will need to disclose the identities of each person involved (parent/guardian, child, attorney-in-fact), the powers that will be delegated, and the commencement/expiration date of the authority granted (not to last longer than one (1) year).
