Register a Vehicle
A vehicle in Alaska must be registered within 10 days (or 60 days if the vehicle is registered in another State) with the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and the following documents:
- Bill of Sale
- Certificate of Title (if there is no lienholder)
- Current Registration
- Odometer Disclosure Statement (Form V6)
- Proof of Insurance: For the minimum amounts of:
- $50,000 for bodily injury or death of any one person
- $100,000 for bodily injury or death for any accident
- $25,000 for property damage
- Registration Fees (see online calculator)
- Vehicle Transaction Application (Form V-1) and submit it on the myAlaska webpage.
Boat (Vessel) Registration Forms
- Proof of Ownership, which may include:
- Bill of Sale
- Alaska Affidavit of Boat Ownership (Form 848)
- Carpenter’s Certificate
- Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin
- The vessel’s title or registration signed by the preceding owner.
- Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles Boat Registration Application (Form 841)
- Payment for any charges accrued during registration.
