The Mississippi Minor Child Power of Attorney is the statutory form used to delegate parental or legal custodian powers over someone under the age of eighteen (18) years. When a parent or legal guardian knows that they will be away from their child, they can plan ahead using this document to make sure that the minor’s caretaker has the capability of authorizing any activity concerning the youth’s education, health care, or dental work. This document should be facilitated by a child welfare agency to ensure the minor’s safety. To complete the form, the executor will have to record the particulars that are relevant to the arrangement and sign the document along with the attorney-in-fact and agency member in front of a notary public. Following the fulfillment of these obligations, the form will need to be filed in the youth court of the county where the minor child resides.
