The Maryland Limited (Special) Power of Attorney allows the executor to restrict the amount of authority that is granted. Unlike the general POAs that simply grant broad sweeping powers, this form is longer and much more detailed providing individuals with the opportunity to further define their agent’s role. Each subject that is listed will be followed by independent actions that can be initialed to specifically convey that particular authority. After supplying the form with the needed information and choosing the powers, the principal must endorse the document while being observed by two (2) witnessing parties and a notary public (the notarial officer may act as one (1) of the witnesses).
