The Iowa Minor Child Power of Attorney delegates specific parental matters to someone of trust in order to adequately meet a child’s needs. When parents (or other legal guardians) are not going to be present for a certain period of time, whether they are being deployed by the military, going on vacation, or any other reason, they will need to make sure that the individual caring for their child has the authority to properly look after the minor. This could include allowing them to consent to emergency medical treatment, dental care, schooling, and so forth. If this is something you seek to accomplish, you must furnish the form with the requisite information and sign it in front of a notary public for acknowledgment purposes.
