The Alaska Durable Power of Attorney is for any person seeking to have someone else represent their best interests, financially speaking, in the case that they are unable to do so. The term “durable” indicates the form will remain valid even if the principal becomes incapacitated or mentally disabled. This provides a safety net for any individual or business wanting to ensure that someone is there to take care of any financial responsibilities should they ever be out of a commission. The form becomes legally binding after it has been appropriately signed by the principal, who must execute the endorsement in front of a notary public.
