How to Register a Vehicle

Finalizing the initial registration on a vehicle will require a visit to a West Virginia DMV location to present all applicable paperwork and fees.

Notes

  • The 6% titling sales tax is waived for qualifying new residents if the vehicle is already titled in their name in another state and they meet the exemption requirements.
  • The exemption does not apply to leased vehicles.

West Virginia does not require its residents to get ahold of a permit prior to purchasing a weapon. There is no system of registration for firearms purchased, or owner licensure necessary. In the case an individual is between the ages of 18 and 20, a concealed pistol/revolver license will be mandated in order to carry in a concealed method. This license is not required for residents owning a gun, that have reached the age of 21 or older.
