State Laws

Minimum Termination: A tenant or landlord may terminate a month-to-month lease with at least 30 days’ notice prior to a periodic rent-paying date (§ 58-2504). Tenants in the United States military service can give 15 days’ written notice if ending their tenancy is necessitated by military orders (§ 58-2570(b)).

Increasing Rent: There are no statewide or local caps on rent increases in Kansas (§ 12-16,120). Landlords must provide at least 30 days’ written notice prior to a monthly lease renewal before a rent increase can go into effect (§ 58-2504 & § 58-2570(b)).
