How to Register a Boat
Nevada requires motorboats to be titled and registered through the Nevada Department of Wildlife. New, untitled, and out-of-state vessel transactions generally must be reviewed in person at an NDOW office; renewals may be completed online. Registration for a watercraft can be carried out at your closest Nevada Department of Wildlife location with the following materials:
- Bill of Sale, original or subsequent bills of sale.
- Department of Taxation clearance/proof of sales tax paid, if applicable.
- Driver’s license and Social Security number.
- Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin, if the boat is new.
- Payment for title and registration fees.
- Power of Attorney, if someone is signing for the owner.
- Properly endorsed Certificate of Title, if the boat was previously titled.
- Vessel inspection, if required by NDOW.
Out-of-State Purchase
- Out-of-state title, properly endorsed, if the boat came from a title state.
- Previous state registration or certified state record, if the boat came from a non-title state.
