The Virginia Minor Child Power of Attorney iterates a formal register of the information and issuance of temporary rights to act on behalf of a parent in regard to their child. When a parent is not available to be present on an interim basis, the document provides approval for another person to take over responsibility for a period. This type of legal form can be instituted for several reasons, including a parent’s absence, incarceration, or military deployment. The agreement can permit the attorney-in-fact the broad range of parental powers or a narrowed explanation of designated actions, such as signing for the child when a parent is not present. The filling requires that a notary be commissioned to properly record the event and verify all executing parties’ capacity and performance.
