State Laws

Minimum Termination: A tenant or landlord may terminate a month-to-month lease by providing at least 10 calendar days’ written notice before the end of the current rental month (La. Civ. Code art. 2728(2)).

Increasing Rent: Louisiana has no statewide rent cap, and no municipalities currently enforce local rent-control ordinances. Landlords must provide at least 10 calendar days’ written notice before a rent increase can take effect at the beginning of the following month of the rental period (La. Civ. Code art. 2728(2)).
