Arkansas Firearm (Gun) Bill of Sale Form

The Arkansas firearm (gun) bill of sale form can be utilized during the private sale of a handgun, rifle, shotgun, etc. Its purpose is to keep a detailed account of how the sale or trade occurred between the two willing participants. Information regarding the buyer, seller, and exchange is transcribed to the document creating a valid record of the transaction. This can be considered vital in the event you ever have to prove that you own or no longer own the firearm. The buyer must be at least 18 years of age in order to lawfully own a gun in Arkansas.

How to Register a Gun

Residents of Arkansas are not obligated to register their firearms according to state law. It is also not necessary to acquire any type of license to own and operate a gun, nor is a permit required for open or concealed carry as long as the individual is 21 or older and not prohibited by law (in accordance with § 5-73-103). However, a permit is still accessible if a gun owner would like to attain some extra benefits such as reciprocity with other states and being exempt from background checks when purchasing a gun from an FFL (Federal Firearms License) dealer.

How to Obtain a Concealed Carry Permit

To acquire a CHCL (Concealed Handgun Carry License) within the state of Arizona, you must be a resident for a minimum of 90 days (corresponding with § 5-73-309). New applicants must achieve the following:

  • A completed Concealed Handgun Carry License Application, you have 2 options:
    • The preferred method of Applying Online (once completed, you will be sent an authorization/confirmation code to have on file).
    • Manually filling out the Application Form and sending it through the mail (it is recommended that you keep a copy for your own personal records).
  • Certificate of completion from an approved CHCL training course within 6 months of applying (instructor must be registered with the ASP – Arizona State Police).
  • Identifiable set of fingerprints carried out by an approved official.
  • Payment for application and background check fees:
    • Online: $143.40 for adults under age 65, $91.90 for seniors (may use credit/debit card to pay online)
    • By Mail: $138.25 for adults under age 65, $88.25 for seniors (must be check or money order payable to the “Arkansas State Police”)

Step 2 – The Parties – Both parties participating in the sale or trade taking place must disclose the following personal contact information:

Seller:

  • Name
  • Mailing Address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip
  • Driver’s License Number

Buyer:

  • Name
  • Mailing Address
  • City
  • State
  • Zip
  • Driver’s License Number

Step 3 – Firearm Specifics – The following details associated with the firearm being transferred must be included within the form:

  • Manufacturer (Make)
  • Model
  • Caliber
  • Serial Number

Step 4 – Sale/Trade Info – Express, within the designated area, the inquired information regarding the sale or trade:

  • Sale Amount in Dollars (in word form)
  • Sale Amount in Dollars (in numerical form)
  • Date in which the sale is taking place (month, day, year).
  • If the transaction involves a trade, check the available box and insert a brief summary explaining the arrangement.

Step 5 – Disclosure Section – The seller and buyer are each assigned a disclosure statement. If they agree that the statements made are true, they will then sign on the prescribed line below.

Step 6 – Signing the Document – If the parties involved in the sale would like the form to be notarized, it is necessary to execute this section in the presence of a notary public. The following fields must be completed:

  • Seller Signature
  • Seller Printed Name
  • Buyer Signature
  • Buyer Printed Name
  • Witness #1 Signature
  • Witness #1 Printed Name
  • Witness #2 Signature
  • Witness #2 Printed Name

After the above requirements have been completed, the notary public will then fill in the necessary areas assigned to the official.
